Oh I remember as a kid, I used to catch or try to catch all those lizards. Anoles ( we called them chameleons) were pretty easy to catch. Fence lizards (blue bellies) were a little harder. Skinks, though were were difficult. Not only could they run fast, they could give you you a rather nasty bite if you caught them. And some of those suckers got pretty big -- 8 inches or more in length.

One funny story I tell my daughter is how I caught a fence lizard at recess at school and put it on my shirt. I went to math class and still had the lizard there. The lizard seemed pretty comfortable. The math teacher saw it and said to go throw that lizard outside. I went outside, but just thought I should put the lizard in my pocket. When I got back, the teacher could detect I was protecting something in my pocket.I got a trip to the principals office over that.
