Is there a job where someone stands in an outdoor space and attracts every mosquito to them personally while anyone else in a 2 block radius gets to enjoy a mosquito-free environment?

I am already that person, I am just wondering if I can monetize this.

I’ll pay you to come sit in my yard whenever I can have people over again! I’ll even throw in beer and bbq.

citronella candles are only marginally effective so if I’m going to spend money I’d rather have something (one) that works better!

Missed these by a couple years: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03055000 https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01994525

But the main https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/search/index page might have ones that test for just such a thing. I mean, hell, we're all already technically human research subjects on mTurk anyway...

None of those mosquito solutions have ever worked for me, because none of them attract mosquitoes better than I do.

It's like the running away from a bear theory. You don't need to outrun the bear, you just need to outrun the slowest person. Think of me as slower than a citronella candle.

My siblings are like you. I make it a point to sit near them during mosquito season lol. :emoji_joy:

I feel sorry for them. I keep mosquito wristbands and skin so soft mosquito repellent and candles around just for when they visit in the summer.

Same, but with ticks. They're BAD here in SEMO. Like, pick up a random stick in the middle of a curated yard and BAM! Tick crawling up your hand.

you ever try one of those leak finder kits for pools?

diatomaceous earth works for this, i cant say this enough times. we had small bird sized mosquitos forever. we used it on the entire yard one year...and just like...nothing. no insects/mosquitos, none of that nasty shit. it was great

I haven't smelled like that in 104 days. Which, now that I think about it, takes away my best excuse for having stinky feet and is making me question my life choices

I'm also one of those unlucky suckers who mosquitoes gravitate to.

What I've learned is the more you drink - the less it even matters.

That also works with bedbugs. AND, the higher BAC actually causes them to have the bug equivalent of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. They'll lay 5 eggs and only 1 actually hatches.

Thing is, it also hurts normal everyday bugs. Diatomaceous earth causes microscopic cuts in their chitin and they dehydrate. Like if your bed was made out of paper, and all night you got tiny papercuts over and over and over again.

Also DE does not work when damp. Needs to be dry and a crawly has to step on it.

DE on lawn seems like it could kill ticks and what not, but would be ineffective for mosquitoes whose larva is in water and adults that fly.

Plus seems like it'd need to be reapplied after every drizzle washes it into the soil.

Usually, I do not mind his surveys but this one had writing in each section. Timing will vary depending on how much you write. It's not a bad survey. It's just that it gets a bit repetitive with the writing.
