Well flying to the US last night they would not let my daughter leave the country and violated her rights as an american citizen and would not recognize her US passport because she was born in peru they would not let her leave except with a peruvian passport.. nobody told us that we needed a peruvian passport for her to go to the US.. and to make things worse immigration officer mocked us for missin our 3500 flight. I filed a diplomatic complaint against the peruvian government with the US state department for violating the my rights of daughter ..after consulting with lawyers and finding out what they did was wrong. Luckily the airline agreed that they were being ass holes and got us a new flight today to the States at 11:45 tonight at no additional charge.. so we will try escaping peru for the second time tonight.

The whole thing sounds like a big bummer.

Peruvian immigration will not allow a child with Peruvian citizenship, even if the child is also a U.S. citizen, to depart Peru without the appropriate Permiso Notarial de Viaje, and the Embassy is unable to assist travelers who are prevented from traveling for lack of this document.

i have that document for my other two children who have another biological father, but it does not make sense to need permission when both biological parents are traveling with the child and have birth certificate and valid travel document

 

It seems like an oversight if this was never mentioned to you in any way before, and definitely on the embassy here if you didn't know.

Yes, and the embassy was well aware of our situation and rush to travel and get the visas. We also provided all the documentation to get her peruvian ID here in peru when we got her birth certficate and again no one made us aware that we could not travel with a US passport. It does not make sense to me that they do not stamp her US passport leaving the country when she is on her way to the USA. I arrive to the US with a passport with out stamps of the country she was coming from. I was under the impression a dual citizen could travel with either passport. Especially how can i have my daughter travel on her Peruvian passport when Peruvian Citizens require visa to enter, and she does not have a visa because she is also american.
