After a brief check of the top three search results on Google, poisoned halloween candy is as much myth as I thought.

Lucky. Just about every family on this block has multiple children, and our lights are always on, so I'm sure it's just "don't go out trick or treating, strangers are scary." How do you expect your children to grow up into proper adults if you treat everything as potential threat? If you can't even trust your neighbor, who do you trust?

 

My wife is still scared of strangers to this day.....the wild fire of easy "news stories" has drawn more people into seclusion.

 

That's weird. I can't imagine it's kids not wanting to go out trick or treating. I mean, as a kid I as pretty pumped about it. Put on roller blades to do it efficiently. And I know all the other kids were just as excited and motivated about it as I was. /shrug

 

Guess it's easier to hole yourself up at home watching ID Channel and checking Twitter all day than to take a minute to realize that not everyone is a crazed serial killer and the vast majority of people are normal human beings, just like you. I feel like a lot of people have lost their sense of proportion, what with the spread of the world wide web and everything.

Luckily, the little monster is asleep so I have a temporary reprieve from his murderous ways.

 

I'm saying it's blown out of proportion. For every story about someone doing wrong, there's probably a hundred more of someone doing good that goes unreported, because being good is simply not that exciting.

 

But people helping an old lady across the street is boring, but someone scamming an old lady into eating scrambled HIV needles is exciting television.

 

I was being sarcastic. A hundred is an understatement really, or at least I hope. Outside of kid related stuff, I changed a tire for a stranger and helped an idiot get his trailer back on the truck( he didnt lock it on the ball) just last week. The world is too busy and self worried to pay attention to others :/
