With all the "please return this HIT" notices today, I'm beginning to feel like I've done every single survey on mTurk ever....

    As morweeg apprised me:
"... if you do have time to read all those posts about how garbage Prolific is, you have time to get better at turking."

I once got a nice undeserved $10 bonus from one requester there.

And another time I almost finished a survey before realizing it was exactly the same survey I'd already done on mturk for about the same pay.

But ppl basically told me there's no point in using prolific when it's better to just concentrate on mturk.

I mean think about it ... go look at posts elsewhere where ppl list out all the income they get from various crowdwork sites ... typically mturk is at the very top of some of those lists ... why even bother with other platforms? Most platforms suck, maybe a few don't, but MTurk is the best right?

Oh, my prolific is way smaller, too, but mostly because I go months without checking. And it's only sometimes better on a daily basis for me.

I think we're comparing apples to oranges here, though, as my monthly mturk goal isn't even close to what you made last week. Depends on how you use mturk, and for me it's supplemental income (yet needed if I want to help my kid when he goes to college). so even a £12 day on Prolific is good for me.

I know nothing about the politics of them or how they position themselves so I have zero opinion there!

Were you able to do all 320 trials? I was booted out around 215 or so, so 6.90 was never going to happen anyway.

For me, and the only reason I mentioned it, is I go to Prolific when I don't have anything to do on mturk.

I literally have 45 minutes to work online every morning before I have to take Kiddo to school then get ready for and leave for my main job. I don't give a care if it's turking or Prolific, if it's online work that's available, I'll do it (and remember to check Prolific more often now).

All situations are different, so for some of us it's worth it to check Prolific.

I bailed after 120 or thereabouts. ... (I've already noted my reason. Some of the sound clips were statistically impossible to be 100% sure about, where plain wind-noise had "2 sounds" or something with a loud anomaly in the middle was just "1 sound" etc. ... I didn't like being lured by a max bonus amount that I thought unlikely (or statistically unachievable except by extreme luck). But I may have misunderstood the bonus structure. (And my ears are admittedly old and my sound hardware sucks.)
