08/19 - Steamy Sunday!

Very simple, which *I* don't agree with given the information, but valid reasons were given, don't if by OP, but here are a couple:

If the same 50 or 500 people are picking up all the HITs, that is reducing mTurk. I don't care about your opinion on this. This is well-established Turker community quality. IF.... IF the script picks RANDOM HITs for the SAME people, it degrades the community. Period. Don't want to argue, address your objection elsewhere.

HOWEVER...

mTurk Requesters are not puffing out '''''premium'''' HITs with no awareness. As every person here who has spent a few years knows, Requesters, the ''''''''''''premium''''''''' commonly available work, are sophisticated and communicate with the Turker community.

I don't LOVE everything ChrisTurk does. I don't believe he wants to break the community. There is much more emphasis on community quality because if that breaks, we're all screwed, and @ChrisTurk and the majority of active posters here agree with that.

The best way to make money on mTurk is still doing quality work, using common scripts, get Masters, work on special quals, and all of those things take effort and expertise and HONESTY.

If "''''''''''people's''''''''''''' lives have changed because of this script, how good were they in the first place? I can get enough HITs on legacy scripts to keep myself more busy than I WANT to be!

If Turkerhub is sucking up all the common premium HITs, then I"d say f**k this place, no reservations.

Oh, do those work? I don't think I've ever gotten an Adsforce HIT to actually work.

 

Bingo. If you're not already making money, you won't make much more money. If you are, you probably will. I jokingly posted my less-than-$5 weekly pay this week, but between family and school, sometimes I can get on for all of 5-10 minutes, maybe an hour in a week. It's nice to have for when I want to sit down and hardcore turk, but honestly, it's just a bonus. It lets me contribute to the forum. It gives me a few extra minutes not having to set up or update my other scripts. But honestly? If I'm not on the right time of day, I don't get the "premium" hits. And a lot of times, I still catch those off of TV reviews on here when I just drop by the forum for a couple of minutes during the day just to see what's up.

Seriously, people are freaking out for no reason at all. There are a lot more folks with private scripts like this that definitely are NOT sharing it, and along with it, they usually use unethical scripts to help complete the hits. That's been happening for years, This ain't breaking mturk, even if it breaks your little hearts.

 

Yeah I did a couple but just not feeling it today. I do not like the set up they started to use now.

 

Did you end up finding the links, mine are just turning up as links on each page as well, rather than a channels page

The thing that surprised me more than anything was just the craziness and vitriol in the thread. Especially after CT posted in there about how he picked participants. Rather than trying to burn the place down. I'd for sure have thought Huh, Turkerhub, maybe I should check that place out.

I guess I got lucky since I've only even been using Mturk for like 3.5 months, but it certainly doesn't require a years stintof indentured servitude to get an invite.

 

I don't know you. I don't pay attention most of the time to who said what unless it's someone I know fairly well and give a damn about on here. I believe I was responding in agreement to comments made by she-who-desires-revolution-on-tuesday.

Again, they're ignoring the pertinent facts so they can be angry. That's what the Internet is about: grab your torch and pitchfork! RARRGH! Except each and every one of them would use it right now if they could, regardless of their whole morality argument.

But OMG would they Grinch about how complicated and beg people to still feed them crap and then go back and complain on reddit about how evil CT is and TH is mean and we all lie about how much we make...

 

I posted earlier this week about a high paying hit I tried unsucesfully to catch all day and I was running QBC with a TV watcher and and a regular panda that both should have caught it. people who don't have QBC were posting reviews on it so it is not some monster ripping through mturk hoarding all the good stuff
