That's just my dumb theory though, so I wouldn't work yourself up over it. I think TurkOpticon will know what's actually going on sooner or later given the scale of suspensions.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that, Angel. Hopefully they'll move quickly on this. I don't really see how they can just abandon so many turkers, especially those with 10+ years of MTurk work history.

 

I like how based on what page someone happens to visit in this thread, they'll get a completely different explanation of what's going on, all posted by me: 1st page tries to convince you it's either a bug or Amazon Payments is getting shutdown, then the 2nd page tells you it's probably all good and they are just transferring data, 3rd page says it's all about documents.

 

Can we start a page four about how Connect and Prolific have joined forces to cripple the already injured MTurk by sending in spies to infiltrate Amazon Payments and start shutting down the workers with the best stats to steer them to other platforms?

 

I was already steered. Been on Prolific since 2019 and making much better $ over there.

 

VRAPI too is my main bread and butter on MTurk. I reached out to Jessica on their Slack channel who said they can help me restore my qual if I'm forced to create a new account... hopefully not.

 

I've been facing this issue too, but as of about an hour ago I'm finally able to get to parts of mturk that I couldn't earlier - like the earnings history. And when I try to accept a hit it's not giving the amazon payments error anymore, it's just really slow and times out - so I'm guessing they just broke mturk and are working on it.

Getting that message now. I was not one of the affected accounts getting the original payments error.

 

Dunno what to make of this but suddenly MTurk is pretty much broken on my end. Catcher won't fire at all and most of the site is 503'ing.

 

I guess the AI that runs MTurk has become the Terminator.
