Didn't others hear from the MTurk support saying that they needed to speak to Amazon Payments? Well, I heard from Amazon Payments telling me I need to talk to MTurk...

Just for clarity this is the initial email I sent to Amazon Payments

"My Amazon Payments account along with hundreds of other workers has been suspended. This has resulted in me no longer being able to perform tasks on the Amazon Mechanical Turk platform.

This has been reported by many workers across various forums and social media (e.g. Reddit, Twitter). This problem began occurring over the weekend, but it seems that more and more accounts are facing this issue.

I have attempted to reverify my checking account via Amazon Payments but receive an "Unexpected error occurred!" message. Is there any information as to whether this is being addressed?"

So they literally just blew past any other pertinent details and just went "Oh! You said MTurk! We're not MTurk! Don't have to help you "

 

I want to say I started turking and got mass rejected and my approval rating dropped in 2009, but idk anymore it's been too long. that's kind of strange that we had the same thing happen and now with this Amazon Payments problem we can both still turk (for now). it's nice to meet you too! when things aren't in chaos there are people who stop by who know a lot about turking, and you can learn new ways to turk better than by yourself. at least I did in 2014 when I joined the forums.

 

I don't understand what they mean. like, all you guys had your payments accounts suspended for different reasons? instead of the one same reason?

 

welp my account was fine but at some point in the last couple hours while I was away looks like I got got too

 

I would reply and explain that our Mturk accounts are not suspended. Tell them we are able to do $0.00 HITS. If we try and accept a HIT for $0.01 or more, it starts bringing up error messages about “account set up not complete” and then the Amazon Payment error message which in turn doesn’t let us work on MTurk. What aren’t they understanding?!

 

I tried to get a phone CS to transfer me to Amazon Payments, but much like us they are seeing that the Amazon Payments call service is unavailable. They escalated the issue, although I'm not sure how that looks or what exactly that escalation process is.

I'd really try to make a lot of noise though, because somehow Amazon Payments is able to perform these suspensions, while giving zero clarity as to why. I didn't even receive the typical email that usually accompanies a Payments suspension (and I'm assuming others didn't receive an email with their suspension, too)

 

Yeah, I have already learned a lot in the last couple of months and especially in the last few days. One thing is for sure though, I learned that support is almost non-existent. But I just started to frequent the forums and I have found that it is so helpful to learn from the experienced turkers.

 

The one reason is, Amazon sucks.

Im treating this as the end putting some applications and returning to society . Hopefully Ill be pleasantly surprised a week later when everything just works.

 

That just reminded me. I had that message sometimes when I am about to start turking, I just logged out and logged back in and it returns to normal. It hasn't happened in a few days so I had forgotten to mention it. I doubt it's the same problem though

I chose $0.00 HITs and don't know why because that's all I've done today for one requestor. I'm not worried about getting flagged because it's my normal behavior for that requestor and my bonus will be about the same as usual.

 

for the record today was a transfer day for me and my account started messing up at some point within a few hours of that so I assume that probably triggered something

 

For everyone who got suspended today, did you get suspended after payday or just whenever?
