How are they still suspending accounts? By next week requesters will only have spam accounts doing their tasks.

 

Hey actually that's kind of weird that you mentioned that, yesterday was when my transfer was sent and I was suspended hours later.

 

Probably because it's an automated process.... So that's probably the idea.

I have mine set up for every 3 days and was suspended within a few hours of it transferring and probably avoided it the last time because the site was messing up at the time

 

The worst part is that we're all running ourselves in circles trying to figure out why, and no one really knows. My heart is out to all of you, and I'm readying myself to be punted anytime soon. I'm gonna fight like crazy to get it back, but I'm really sad as I kind of discovered this year that I really like the variety of tasks mTurk offers, and there's really no other platform that is doing the batch stuff. Stinks for us all.

 

Hey, I'm writing up a general overview of the issue since everyone at amazon is an idiot and they don't talk to each other. I'm including what I have so far, keeping in mind this is a general overview - I am hoping keeping it short means someone will actually read it.

I want to double-check one thing: Everyone I've talked to can still log into their payments account. Is there anyone here who cannot?

Also, if there is any MAIN point I'm missing (again, I'm trying to keep this short so it gets read) let me know!



Account suspension overview


Recently, hundreds of US workers on Amazon Mechanical Turk have received a message that their Amazon Payments account has been suspended and they can no longer work on the platform. Workers are able to accept and complete HITS (tasks) that don’t pay.


Every worker receiving this message can still log into their payments account, although some now show their bank account as unverified.


Any communication from Amazon has either involved Mturk and Payments blaming each other or requests to create a new account, which is against the TOS.


Workers whose earnings are due for payment are receiving scheduled payouts, suggesting that their Payments account does, in fact, work.


Many of these workers have been working on the platform without issue for over a decade.

 

I should add to anyone who doesn't know me, I work with Turkopticon, sorry should have added that

 

I don't even have a bank account listed on my Amazon payments account because I don't think I ever set one up on there.

I can log into my Pay account, but there is nothing there. My bank account info is on the mTurk page. I carefully hit the edit link, and it would (I guess) let me set up a new bank account, on the mTurk site, not in Payments. Not sure if this helps or not.

No. But no bank account shows when I got to my Amazon payments account. I assume I just set it up directly through mTurk back in 2019? I can't remember though.

 

I can log into my payments account, but I don't have access to the bank management tab, as that infinitely loads for me.

This is what the Bank account management tab looks like for me. No bank accounts showing and I am not able to click on the Add Bank Account button.
