I should also mention that my account was suspended back in 2022 and I did, in fact, send an email to that address regarding my suspension. This was their response:

My account was suspended sometime between 11:00 PM and 4:40 AM MST. when I logged into mturk at 4:40 AM I'm seeing this message -

Your Amazon Payments account has been suspended


You will not be able to use Amazon Mechanical Turk until your Amazon Payments account is in good standing. If you believe this suspension is an error, please contact Amazon Payments Customer Service to resolve this problem.

It also seems that the Amazon Payments site is doing the stupid “too many redirects” shit again on all my devices. Even escaped my network via 5G hotspot and my phone and it’s happening there too. Seems like whenever people have reported suspensions the Payments site is also dying in tandem

treat it as a cyber attack, folks. it has to be. amazon just doesn't want the word out. the city of columbus tried to hide it from their people that they had an attack. Until the mayor couldn't anymore. got a huge mess down there.

 

Wow, Most of the people here are getting the ax. I wonder if I'm next. I am still able to sling surveys so far.

 

I really want to believe this but it breaks my brain to think one of the largest companies that hosts most of the world could let a cyberattack persist for a week

 

they probably are trying to keep it from going to the sales side hence, not enough workers to fix the turk side. yes, it can happen. it seemed to begin after that huge cyperattack that attacked the world.

 

Is Amazon Payments account the same as AMT account? If not, for those whose account got suspended, are they able to work on mturk?

First, the site had some problem that prevented Workers from accepting the HIT. I guess it lasted for a day. Assuming that the account suspensions are also because of some error, I wonder if it's just a coincidence that both happened in the same week.

 

oh my goodness...okay...I went to my dashboard, filled out the TO form. clicked the link to my queue. it's full of hits that I accepted last night that have a long timer, like 1-2 week timer. I'm going to try to do the hits in my queue see what happens.

edit: I was able to complete and submit a batch hit that was in my queue just now. I tried to accept a new hit on mturk manually. I got the my account isn't set up yet error page. then after I clicked the button to set it up, I got the your amazon payments account has been suspended error page.

 

Sounds like they are having severe server issues. The prospect that it's a hack is getting more likely.

 

for everyone thinking this DAC7, read about it. it is talking about EU sellars. now if you are in the EU and a seller, yeah, you're there. but we are workers probably mostly in the US, workers, not sellars, some one fed us a load of bull. I still think this is there hack. as someone tries to steal an account through SS numbers or whatever, bang, the account gets closed. that's why they are telling people to get a new account. that or they really don't know what they are doing which is more likely.

While Mechanical Turk does use Amazon Pay for verification purposes, it is a separate Amazon service. I'm unable to assist with the creation, verification, or review of that account. You will need to contact Amazon Pay directly by emailing payments-verification@amazon.com.

My reply:

I have already been in contact with them and they have deferred to you, the Mechanical Turk team. I would suggest that your team needs to get in contact with the Amazon Payments team and figure out who is responsible in this event as this is affecting not only me, but a growing number of other workers who are reporting this issue on Reddit, Twitter, and as well as several Mechanical Turk forums.

Both your team and the Amazon Payments team are refusing to take responsibility for this disruption.

I also got hit by this same ban wave. Last accepted a hit at around 9pm. I knew it was coming but still :emoji_expressionless:
