RIP Angel (not @angel , Angel the cat). Was gonna post earlier but needed all the pics from the fam.
This morning at the young age of 19(!) she passed.

She was actually set to be taken to the vets to be put to sleep but decided she'd go out on her own terms. Almost a year ago, she was diagnosed with kidney failure and only had a couple weeks to live. Well, she held out until today.

Back in 2001 when I was 12, a couple stray kittens had taken up residence in our garage. I went to Boyscout camp a couple days later and came back home to Angel and her bro Roddie as new family members. Back then we had only had dogs, so I didn't really didn't know how to handle a cat, much less a stray kitten. To this day there's a scar on my left eyebrow from where she clawed me trying to play with her. And I'll never forget all my friends being like "LOL you got mauled by a kitten!" Annoying at the time, but kinda cute and heartwarming looking back.

Not once but twice, did she be a dumb cat (I was away at school for these) and start chewing on a thread my mother had left around only to swallow the entire needle and need surgery. She was a real fighter.

She was a big flufflball and actually never weighed more than 6lbs. She absolutely hated being picked up, but at the same time loved to nuzzle and snuggle as long as she was grounded. In fact, she liked to randomly wake people up when she was younger by climbing on you and purring and kneading while you slept.


Her brother Roddie is somehow still up and kicking and currently as good as he can be at his age for now at least.

Also forgot to add in - My father dug her grave earlier and (he's a carpenter) found a really old, rusted chisel from probably somewhere in the 20's-40's. He's gonna clean it up and keep it as a memory because it's such a uniquely specific and random thing to find.

 

Or is it a dog in this case? Maybe Stanford will do a study!
