What can I say, we like some net usage, and hey comcast sucks so I'll use all their bandwidth.

 

Do you just have multiple 4k TVs streaming all day long? Cause 4k streaming takes about 7Gb/hr, so 8289Gb/7 means ~1200h of 4k TV/month, so ~300h of 4k TV/week. Assuming what... 3 TVs, we're talking around 100h/week, so 14h of 4k streaming every day on 3 TVs... unless you just download games/series/movies non-stop and then delete them once you're done (cause you probably don't buy a 9Tb drive every month)?

 

It's a mix...we have 3 4k tvs....also though, 2 xbox 1's 2 ps4s, there are multiple other tvs that aren't 4k but they stream through amazon fires. PC's and laptops, also the camera system in my house streams through the wifi.

 

Oh so you just run 3TVs 12h a day + sometimes play some console and have 720p cameras

 

When the xbox game pass happened that really spiked usage. But I'll break it down...

What I'm saying is, the biggest bandwidth hog in a house will be HD cams and 4k TVs (working from home doesn't consume much, maybe 100Gb a month, consoles, unless you are using cloud gaming, don't consume much and computers, unless being used for internet-expensive stuff, doesn't consume much). People rarely use HD cams for home security, as they are ridiculously expensive and not needed, so I'm assuming 720p cams.

So lets be generous and say normal internet usage for 4 people (work and general school stuff + mturk) is 500Gb (without considering entertainment), it leaves us with ~7800Gb/month. 4k TVs being the biggest hog, we'll take those 7Gb/hr number, you guys are consuming ~280 hours of 4k TV each week (there's 168h in a week). So divided by 4 people, that's 70h of TV, per person, per week. The TVs have to be on when no one's actually watching lol. No way you guys are watching 70h of separate 4k TV every week!

I guess I just don't understand how you guys can consume so much data it boggles my mind

My son downloads and deletes games all the time because of hard drive space, that mixed with xbox live ps plus freebies, that is where the real strain comes in. He also plays COD which seems to have 100 gb updates all the time
