09/13 - This Turkers Work Thursday

So, if I work on a hit and get done with it, after I passed all screener questions...and don't get a survey code...should the requester still have to pay me even if he says he can't use my data? I passed the screener questions and did the hit but wasn't given a survey code. I used my mturk ID and reported the hit as broken content. He emailed saying he can't use my data because it seemed inconsistent. This was the rejection I was talking about yesterday. We've been going back and forth several times and he finally found where I took the survey.

He should pay you but that doesn't mean he will. Is it an academic, threaten to and or contact his IRB

 

ask him where is the inconsistency in your answer

1) What is the hit payment? Is the time spent trying to get paid worth it?
2) If the requester works for a US based college you can email their IRB if you feel it's warranted

It was only $2.42. I just don't like rejections. It isn't worth the pay, but it's worth trying to reverse that rejection, which he is NOT going to do @queenpenguin He said it was because I hadn't used alcohol or drugs more than once in the last month. In the screener it just asked if I had used alcohol or drugs in the last month. I have, just not to the point there was a problem. Which is what they were looking for. They should have had that in the screener. @angel I'm going to have to find that information. I'm not a happy camper. He's a new requester, at least, no ratings anywhere.

Thank you. On the hit page, there's no information so he may not be with a school. I just went and looked through hit tracker. I may have no recourse, I'm just spitting mad, and just a tiny bit sad.

 

be persistent email every day until he gives up and reverses it. I've done this before when I first started out. 3-weeks constantly emailing until he reversed it. in his last email "I'm only doing this for you not others." so cute lmao

 

He's been very communicative, and actually nice. Which is why this is so frustrating. I'll probably have to eat the rejection, but I'm gonna try to appeal to him one more time. Just because he didn't like my answers, if I passed the screener and didn't give nonsensical answers on the survey, he should still have to pay me. Grrrr.

Anyway, thanks everyone. Just trying to get some perspective and ideas for next steps.

I agree that he should pay even with no completion code.

ps: try asking "Well, I guess we need IRB to solve this issue. Can I have your IRB contact?" if he is a graduate student, he wouldn't want his name getting to the upper management...
