yep. way better than the last few places I've been and no one to worry about taking care of but myself. It's hard to find something affordable these days. I was commenting on my friends loft the other day and found out he pays $1600 a month for a lease on a loft. eff the view... I was originally going to get the bedroom but he thinks the finished basement is worth less so GO ME!!! I really like it here. I came over last week and stayed a few days for a trial run before bringing my computer and most of my stuff here. I still have stuff in storage and I need to get my stuff from my last place but that was in the worst part of the city around a bunch of crackheads so I am in heaven!

the basement gives me a walk in closet so I'm thinking that if I am still digging it in December I could move my storage over here. I don't want to rush it though. I have been looking for a decent place for a literal year. I really hope this continues to work out.

I will be so happy when I can turk full time again, I can't wait! I'm not sure where to move though. I really want to move to my old apartment complex. but it changed management companies. it might have gotten way less safe. so :dunno:

I feel like being a renter is way harder than before 2020. at least it is in colorado. I'm not surprised it took you a year.

@malysa you could turn the walk in closet into a turking area/office. I would!

it's way harder. even for people wanting to buy. a lot of hedge funds bought up most of the available real estate so the apartments I used to love are either too expensive or air bnbs. I've been turking from bed for so long that last week when I used his desktop in his office it was kinda weird. I liked it but I've become so used to living out of the bed. I didn't want to bring a $1200 computer that is my livelihood to unknown territory. What part of Colorado? I went to Denver for my birthday in 2021 and I loved everything except for the homeless tents on the side of the street in Capitol Hill. that made me horribly sad... So does my friend's loft honestly because it's in the heart of downtown and most of his view are hotels including one that they've been building all summer. It's like if I can't rent because of all of the air bnbs, why the hell are y'all building even more over priced hotels?

Thank you you noticed too! that it's way harder to rent now! I forgot you had been to denver in 2021! it's really bad all over colorado. I'm still at my elderly parents' house. the houses here are I'm going to rough guess $425,000 on average. there are so many people who can't find housing that when you drive around, you see many backyards with shed-like mini houses or big RV's and stuff like that. it's not air bnb's in this particular area, it's literally relatives of homeowners for the most part. and it's nuts because they can afford a fancy, new RV type of thing or to build a shed-house thing that looks nice, but can't find a normal place to live. it's probably about halfway between denver and the wyoming border, so part of the northern colorado mess.

@malysa I think you're about the same age as me, so you might have a few older relatives. maybe you could install or convert a shed in one of their backyards! into like an independent living space with kitchen, bathroom, heating and cooling and plumbing blah blah. the only bad thing is they can evict you like a landlord if you do that. so I wouldn't want to, I want my own apartment instead.

I tried that in the winter, remember? My grandmother has Alzheimer's and I can't handle that. My uncle is already using her and plans on taking everything she has so whatevs. I tried. It's too hard and I lost out on a lot of money trying to be there. I really like this place though. He's got another room upstairs to rent out. Want to live in Louisville and we can turk in the basement together lol

I did for about four months but my uncle made it unbearable. Then I moved to the worst part of town with a roommate that I lived with in my 20s in a better part of town but honestly, it was so crack/methy/homeless campy that I felt like the beginning of Joe vs. the Volcano every single day...

yeah that's what I'm trying to avoid right now lol! I read that at my old complex, management abandoned the office for the most part. in colorado at least, that leaves whatever complex for whatever gang to take it over. so that's pretty much what I'm trying to avoid. but also I want to live alone after having helped my family so much. so maybe a few gunshots here and there aren't so bad as long as they don't hit any people. and a walk in closet like yours would be a dream.

I've been doing some Prolific surveys tonight since VRAPI is doing maintenance, and I've got to ask... how likely are they to reject for fast completions? I've done a few so far that are listing times like 15 or 20 minutes that are taking me one or two to complete.

There was one that I think I was screened out of, but it completed for full payment. It's been so long since I've done any, and now I'm worried they changed some stuff and I'm going to get rejected or whatever Prolific does.

I've only had two rejections in five years and one was overturned. the other was bogus but it definitely hasn't hurt my workload. Plus, Prolific recently added paid screening so if they were too stupid to write that into their study too bad for them ;)
