Good morning! As some of you may or may not know, I've been working on a project for the past month and a half. And because we have such a special group here, I wanted a chance to share it with you, and thank some of you awesome people who helped me out. Bit of background, Hubby and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary yesterday, and today is our 13th anniversary of when we starting dating - hence the title. I believe @ThisPoorGuy demanded whimsy, I hope this covers it. (Someone demanded whimsy in thread titles when @ChrisTurk just called it Monday). So I randomly threw out a request for help, and 3 people responded. I want to say thank you to @SamAnt for recommending the program PC Stitch - it was amazing. @Buzby for getting my crappy line tracing of a photo into a vector image that was usable, and @NBadger for walking me through how to do various things in Photoshop and Illustrator so I could get Buzby's picture into a format that PC Stitch would play nice with. And since y'all require pictures Hubby is a huge Simpsons fan, so in 2010 (3 years before he even proposed), I came across these cufflinks on Etsy that were from the show. (Lisa's Wedding, Season 6, Episode 19) I knew I had to buy them then and there, and somehow I managed to 1) not scare him away by buying something for our marriage when we hadn't even spoken of it yet and 2) managed to not lose them through 2 different moves and 5 years. So Hubby got to wear them on the wedding day. I took that picture (which had about 15,000 too many colors according to pixel simplifying programs) and came up with this rather crude line drawing... @Buzby managed to take that bunch of scribbles and a screenshot from the episode and turned it into this amazing masterpiece and with @NBadger's help, I managed to get it colored and simplified enough.... ...so that the program @SamAnt suggested could turn it into a pattern. And from that pattern, through many a day's sacrificed PE, I managed to turn it into this: I'm giving myself a drumroll, I think I earned it edit: I tried to give myself a drumroll, but @ChrisTurk apparently limits the number of pictures in a given post, so I can't even give you all a gif to start the day! 2nd edit: CT being awesome as he usually is, upped the limit so I can add back in all my pictures and my 1 gif! As the second anniversary is the "cotton" anniversary, I found it to be most appropriate (thread and fabric are both cotton). The big tldr; takeaway is this place is very special. People look out for each other and help each other out when they need it and really take the "no such thing as a stupid question" thing to heart. I'm really glad I have a chance to be a part of this community, you all are awesome - keep it up! Now let's make some money today - I've spent far too many days of the past 6 weeks cross-stitching instead of turking!
