Get it. Just saying the rivalry still lives. And apparently is quite ferocious.
I am curious when and where you took out the MSU recruit? Sounds interesting....

This was high school in my sophomore year, so that was the '99 season IIRC

Helmet to helmet was common then. Sounds like you were probably on the D-line somewhere.

I look back on it now and I feel **really** bad....at the time, I was proud - I took their top threat out of the game, and I was celebrated for it.......

Looking back on it, that kid could have had a scholarship to a prestigious school and ended up not getting that scholarship. I know he didn't get **that** scholarship, but I hope he got something in like a D2 or a 1AA school or something.

It's kind of fucked up...our school had a couple JV guys (i.e. me) dress, and we ended up having injuries to where I had to play. I jumped him on a route and we went head to head.....both concussed, but he took the worst of it apparently. He lost the majority of his senior year, and as such, didn't end up getting the scholarship he had been predicted to get.

Hindsight is always going to be 20/20 and when you're young, you're pretty stupid. Hopefully he moved on his life, though. It's not like you're still bragging about being a dickass from when you were a kid, and I don't really see the point in beating yourself up over things from so long ago, really.

I do most of my "Al Bundy" bragging through mentioning that there are a couple NFL players I had to play against....

    ...and was embarrassed by.

I had to **attempt** to cover Ted Ginn Jr.....and the QB was Troy Smith.

It did not go well...to say the least.

Donte Whitner was on that same team, but he was on defense, and I didn't play WR in that game....but I **can** say that I played in a game against three guys that ended up in the NFL

After that, IIRC, the next person from those two teams that ended up in the NFL was Mitch Trubisky, which was about a decade later

    I totally understand.

It was a majorly different time back then and the goal was to take out the opponent no matter what the cost. We didn't know then about TBI's etc. I remember guys in High School passing out regularly from the heat at summer practice - nobody had enforced water breaks.

I'm sorry to hear that in hindsight that happened to you. I can see where you would feel bad looking back, but I remember the game back then and it was really so much more rudimentary and there were so many less safety precautions. Now if you had the same hit it probably would have been a big penalty. And prior to that you likely would have been taught "heads up" and it been more enforced in practice etc.

Oh yeah....practice til you puke was *totally* a thing, and wasn't an issue....though it probably should have been. What we called two-a-days were **HELL**, and are something that I don't even think professional athletes should have to deal with.

Honestly (and luckily) the concussions I sustained playing football (I'm relatively sure) didn't affect me long term. I won't say that I'm completely unaffected by it, because I had my own issues well before that shit ever began, but yeah...

@TheNerdyAnarchist It happened, I knew there was a a god masquerading as something else. Bet you the "light" the Drow worship is also one of the betrayer gods or something worse.
