Turking and Watching the Wheel of Time baby!

 

Has anyone tried that "Image Labeling Task" hit for $6 where you annotate 500ish images? Im 100 images deep and now it jus keeps saying "Error: Network Error"

 

Now I'm going to go feed General Pershing the stray cat whose winter palace happens to be in my garage.

 

Sorry Ben, I haven't done that HIT. Seems like there's been a huge number of broken HITs lately. PITA I know.

A survey asks questions like:
Can a machine "understand" us?

Can a computer (built with current technology, not some sci-fi future) truly "understand" what we say?

Obviously, "conscious understanding" is beyond the capability of an unconscious machine — it cannot "understand" in any conscious way like a human can.

In another interpretation, "understanding" could simply mean: recognizing and interpreting and processing our input correctly (thus we can say "the machine did NOT 'misunderstand' us") — therefore the machine IS capable of "understanding" in that limited sense (e.g.: "I spoke to an Alexa device and it 'understood' what I said"). — Obviously this interpretation is NOT about "conscious understanding", but instead, just "understanding" in the limited sense of correctly recognizing and processing the input.

So the question seems potentially ambiguous, if the requester didn't clearly specify which interpretation he's using.

I wrote a note in the survey's comment box about that, but ran out of time and had to return it.
