    In the Adirondacks that's not enough, the bears figured out how to get it down. You need a bear canister/food vault. It's a pain in the ass.

    what @Buntastic said. if you are taking a few months to a year off repeatedly then coming back, it might be best to just check the daily threads for the last week or so each time you start turking again.
