You'd be correct on that assumption. Mturk has made it a point to not mediate at all between worker and requester. It only happened one time (in 2014) that I'm aware of. And those were extraordinary circumstances.

 

You can send a polite email to the requester asking for a reversal. Sometimes it works. Most of the time it doesn't. Other than that, no, there's not much you can do. Amazon will not step in.

 

Kind of curious about what the circumstances were with that if you don't mind saying. I started late in 2014, so that was before my time I guess.

 

It is imperative to use third-party extensions. I didn't know that until after two days of working and so I now have 5 rejections from scumbag requestors. Two of which said he rejected me for being a non-native English speaker. Which is not only false but I have also tutored English courses in college.

 

It involved the mass rejection of 3 million hits from a requester named crowd task over thanksgiving 2014. So they had a personal interest in not losing a ton of money. They (mturk) stepped in after a few days and reversed it all.

 

I actually think it was more like 900k-1 mil now that I think about it. But still a very large number. An ocean was made from the tears on the forum

Those receipt hits that Yuk told you about should be safe. Try to stick to requesters with a 99% approval rating and you should be OK. There's a lot to learn, but if you stick with it you'll figure things out. Best of luck.

 

I was forced to miss it cause it required 50k approved or something lmao. I was but a young turkleton at the time with like 1000 approved.
