As per @clickhappier 's suggestion the forum now has Keyword Alerts installed. Right now its only enabled for Donators, Moderators (sorry didn't mean to leave y'all out) & former MTG MotM award recipients (if you won this before my time on the site, let me know 'cause I had no idea it was a thing before the most recent iteration).

I didn't have access to it on MTG, so I'm kind of wary of its performance hit to the server which is the only reason I'm limiting its use right now. I already have a ton of issues with e-mails being sent/delivered/spam-banned so taking a conservative approach on this one until I can get a feel for it. If it doesn't cause any issues I'll enable it for everyone, but I have my doubts on this one being a great add-on (might re-do this myself into something a little more slick.. do people even really like getting e-mail alerts?? Wouldn't in-browser/desktop be more preferable?).

It's one of those things you never think about, find accidentally and then can't imagine not having it anymore.

 

It includes an option to choose between emails, forum alerts in browser, or both. (You can set email frequency to 'don't send emails' and select 'also send alerts' to get in-browser only.) I primarily want it for the emails, but that's not all it does.

 

Same here. The Projected earnings for the day section of HitDB doesn't even work for me. It never updates and always shows -[goal].

 

Anyone else keep getting an error message with a problem submitting Hits?

Truthfully since I signed up the emails have gone to spam and I've never read them or tried to divert them from spam lol. I think browser alerts would be cool, as long as we have total control over what sets it off. It it pops up every time someone replies to a thread that will get turned off immediately! But if we could set it to show when a hit is posted that would be sweet!

I wouldn't use an email alert, but I would definitely use a desktop alert system by keyword.

Btw, on those RT hits, I can't do more than 5 or so at a time before I start to get incredibly bored. However, I've found using ctrl-i for 'yes' and ctrl-o for 'no' [and going to next, with certainty][as well as binding ctrlj,k and l for 'no, maybe, yes' respectively, make them a little more decent. [and, of course, hiding the instructions].
