72 Percys. I'm almost glad they're gone. Time for zzzzs (not to be confused with Z's)

Edit: Because I'm apparently too tired for grammar and spelling.

My last partner in my last Percy spent a full minute before clicking the answer criticizing me for a miscommunication that they made. :banghead:

I got a troll in the Percy going on and on about how I must be a mormon because I'm so direct in my communication. Twas pretty irritating.

Is there a discussion anywhere on how to do the Percy hits so you do not waste time and annoy your partner? Haven't tried one yet cause I didn't want to be a derp.

No, but you shouldn't let the angry banter keep you from trying one. :)

I'm just happy to have someone response. I really don't get annoyed unless someone just lists things off.

Just dive right in. There's nothing to lose. It's easy. Once you do a few you'll know exactly what you need to say. If all of your friends are outdoor people - let it be known, that'll likely eliminate half of your partner's friends.

Also, I like taking the lead because I have very little confidence for others - but sometimes you'll notice that the other person is trying to take the lead. It's usually best to sit back and answer their questions if that's the case. - rather than convuluting the discussion with both of you asking questions back and forth.

So we are each looking at different lists of people but there is one that is on both of our lists?

Not sure if I'm divulging, but I think the "trick" is to search for a pattern, maybe a name or two, and roll with it. Being as communicative as possible helps heaps. Also, be attentive – sometimes you might feel overwhelmed and miss something your partner might say.

When the HIT loads, there are instructions which are pretty clear. But the timer also starts the same time. I guess people start as the timer is running. May be a minute to read the instructions will make it clear.

The instructions are in the HIT, not just on the chat page. Read them in the HIT before you load the chat page so you're not using up the 5 minutes reading the instructions.

In terms of not annoying your partner - Don't do other stuff while you're doing Percy. That's really the main problem, delayed responses that don't appear to be related to figuring out the answer. The other is not being a jerk and wasting people's time, which you clearly won't be doing if you're even asking this question.

Tips - trying to be vague since this is research, but I think this is fairly vague -

If you're unsure of what to do when you're starting, let your partner lead you if you can, like as long as they aren't mute, they may know what they're doing and just follow their lead. I've had a few who clearly have no clue, think they do, and they make it harder on themselves with their hunt and peck approach. Once in a while that approach get you a one-minute chat, but those usually roll into the 2+ minutes.

Also, and I know this sounds simple, but read every message your partner sends and try to respond to each. The number of times I've had it roll into 3+ minutes, but I gave information with the correct answer within the first 45 seconds is in the dozens. And even if I'm typing something when they send a message, I enter my message and then respond directly about the thing they posted about. So, good communication speeds things up a ton, but seems to be difficult for some.
