    Hello,

I joined four days ago. I applied so long ago I had completely forgotten about it. I have submitted about 200 HITS. I am starting to read the information on this website about what to do to be efficient. I already have some rejections which apparently is not desirable. I got a canned response on the rejections (all the same type of HIT) but I don't really know what I did wrong. I sent an email question on one of the rejected HITS but no response. I guess I'll stay away from them (drawing boxes around cars and pedestrians).

Some of the activities seem very strange. I really don't completely get what it is all about but it's fun and interesting. I am an early retiree who works part-time as a substitute teacher during the school year.

Welcome to the Hub . My first suggestion would be to go on over to the daily thread and feel free to ask any questions there since there will be more people over there to help you for sure. I sure hope that you enjoy your time here and find it useful.

I believe I saw other people get rejected from those too. You emailed them so you did all you could do. Just pick yourself up and continue getting more Hits and hit those milestones to open up new Hits you can do.

I suggest checking out http://mturksuite.com/ and installing it. One of the features that likely would be really useful is the included https://turkopticon.ucsd.edu/ script so that you can check other worker's reviews of requesters. While honestly at this point I don't trust it that much for a new worker it is a useful tool to make sure that you don't do work for bad requesters that like to reject.

By the way what requester did you do work for that rejected you? I have a feeling that they have a history of rejecting by how you described the hit.

On a side note weekends are fairly slow so don't freak out when it is dead on Saturday.

    Oh and welcome

What Randomacts said is best advice to avoid rejections :) Turkopticon has two websites now, but most of the reviews end up on turkopticon.ucsd.edu which you can browse around on even without extensions and lookup requesters you might be interested in working for :)
Haha. Variety is huge on mTurk. There is everything from preventing forest fires in Canada, judging surgeons across the US on their skill during procedures, to the plain old image moderation. Finding what you like and are good at is one of those journeys that can take a while but will make the site much more fun/profitable for ya :)
If you have the patience to teach you'lldo fine on mTurk LOL! Welcome to TurkerHub, and like others have said if you have questions don't hesitate to ask. Every morning we make a new daily thread in this section, its the most active part of the site & definitely a good place to get to know folks / ask questions / etc.

    Welcome to the Hub :)

Yeah, that requester seems to have a track record of rejecting so I'd stay away from them and perhaps leave a review yourself at the following...

As mentioned already, hang out in the daily thread and just ask for some safe hits to work on and we can help you with that.

Seems like there is always a video clip to watch and I have been perfect on those. I have been impressed how quickly writing samples are approved and paid.

Welcome to the hub. One suggestion I have is that when you decide to work on something you haven't done before and you aren't sure about only do a couple of them and see if they get approved before doing a lot. Watching the daily thread will also clue you in to some requesters that are safe and you can go crazy on those.
