Glossary of mTurk Terms

Acronym/Term​	Explanation​
AA Auto-Approval​	The time it takes for a HIT to automatically approve. The maximum amount of time you will have to wait before being paid if the requester doesn't step in and manually approve/reject the HIT beforehand. The current maximum auto-approval time is 30 days, default is 8 hours, minimum is 0 seconds (instant approval).
AC Attention Check​	Any question in a HIT or survey with a known or obvious answer, used by requesters to make sure a worker is paying attention to the task.
AMT Amazon Mechanical Turk​	Common shorthand for Amazon Mechanical Turk.
Cherry Picking​	Term for picking the easiest HITs from a batch while returning the harder ones to optimize hourly wage.
GM GreaseMonkey​	A userscript management extension.
HAM Ham​	Completing a large # of HITs in a batch without regard for possible rejections.
HIT Human Intelligence Tasks​	The name of tasks on Amazon Mechanical Turk.
HITDB HIT Database​	A (now defunct) userscript for tracking completed HITs.
HN Hit Notifier​	A popular (and sometimes controversial) forum scraping website.
HOTD / HOTM / HOTY HIT of the Day / Month / Year​	A really good HIT that stands out for its high pay rate.
HWTF HIT Worth Turking For​	A good HIT. Also the name of a popular subreddit.
MTS mTurk Suite​	A Chrome extension created by @Kadauchi.
MTC mTurkCrowd​	A popular mTurk forum, known for their outgoing and friendly members.
MTF mTurkForum​	An mTurk Forum owned by Andy who used to be/is a requester.
MTG mTurkGrind​	A now defunct mTurk forum, where most TH members originated from..
OW Overwatch​	A popular Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey search-based script that alerts & logs when keywords are matched.
Panda Preview AND Accept​	The URL to the link that both previews and attempts to accept the HIT.
PC Panda Crazy​	A popular Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey script that saves your Group IDs and rapidly attempts to accept them by the panda URL.
PE Projected Earnings​	The amount a worker will earn if all his/her submitted HITs are approved (sometimes "negative" PEs are posted as a joke when a user makes a large purchase).

TM TamperMonkey, TurkMaster​	TamperMonkey is a userscript manager like Greasemonkey. Turkermaster is a userscript that allows users to PandA HITs.
TN TurkerNation​	mTurk forum known for its secretive member access, run by the well known & friendly Turker, SpamGirl.
TO TurkOpticon​	A website where workers rate and review requesters they work for.
TV TurkerView​	A requester review site, operated by the same owner of TurkerHub.
Weekly Weekly Worker Report​	An e-mail sent by mTurk (usually every Sunday morning) detailing a bunch of stats for the week.
