Joe Lo [A2CIK5WEHBJBNU]

Overview

Joe Lo [AWS6DGRD25TPW] - possibly a new account for requester PredictWallStreet.com - posts HITs asking Turkers to predict whether stocks for a given company will go up or down the next day.

the interface

The HIT interface is very simple. You are given a list of 100 (or 50 for the ETF version) companies. For each company, you are shown the name, logo, ticker symbol, and asked to predict whether the stock will go up or down the next day. A link to the Yahoo Finance page for that stock is provided for research purposes.

Their TurkOpticon reviews can be found here. There are no reviews for this requester on TO2 yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to know a lot about stocks for this?
No. The requester is looking for the gut feelings/instincts of a lot of everyday people. They do provide links to each stock on Yahoo Finance if you want to do a little research, but for the most part, go with your gut. Did the company have a big scandal? It's going to go down.
When do these HITs drop? How many can I get?
The international HITs drop between 1:15am and 3:15 am EST (96 Danish at 1:15, 41 Danish at 2:15, and the rest around 3:15).
The US HITs used to drop regularly between 8:15 AM EST and 8:25 AM EST, but now drop starting around 6:15am EST.
They only drop on days when the NYSE is open, so not on weekends or holidays.
There is only 1 HIT each for the international and ETF HITs and 5-10 of the regular US HITs daily.
Why did a math problem pop up during the HIT?
It's a captcha/a measure to keep people from completing the HIT too fast.
It won't submit. Should I use a script to force it to?
No. When you finish the HIT, it sends your predictions to an external server. If it gets stuck on that part, forcing the HIT to submit on Mturk could result in the requester not getting any data at all from that HIT.
What's PredictWallStreet.com?
From their website:
A requester called PredictWallStreet.com posted HITs similar to the Joe Lo ones from late 2014 until mid-2016. The main difference is that those HITs were done through an external site, not in the HIT iframe like these ones. That requester has stopped posting HITs, but this is likely (note: not officially confirmed) a continuation of that project.
